Meet The Doctor

Dr. McConnell is a native Oklahoman born and raised in Yukon.  Dr. McConnell attended Yukon High School and then graduated from Midwestern State University, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Magna Cum Laude with her bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene.  She then practiced as a dental hygienist for eight years before starting dental school at The University of Oklahoma.

While in dental school, she was the recipient of numerous awards.  She received the Michael E. Lindley award for outstanding leadership and service to the American Student Dental Association, the Eleanor Bushee Senior Student Award for academic excellence and outstanding leadership, the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology Award for recognition of high quality academic achievement and demonstration of outstanding clinical skills, an award in recognition of outstanding achievement from the Operative Dentistry department, and she was chosen to participate in the Pediatric Dentistry Honor Program.  She was also selected to be a student clinical instructor to underclassmen in Fixed Prosthodontics as well as Operative and Pediatric Dentistry.

During her first year of dental school, she was elected first delegate to the American Student Dental Association. She served as the national representative in the delegate position for three years. She was also nominated by faculty to join the Crimson Club on the health science center campus where she acted as a student ambassador to visiting dignitaries and diplomats at university social functions.

As a practicing dentist, Dr. McConnell is a member of multiple dental organizations.  Each has a role in her development as a dentist.  As a member of the American Dental Association and the Oklahoma Dental Association, Dr. McConnell joins other dentists in helping secure quality care for generations.  As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. McConnell demonstrates her commitment to continuing education and her constant evolvement as a dentist.  As a board member of The Oklahoma Association of Women Dentists, she serves as an educational source for emphasis on issues pertinent to other career women.

Dr. McConnell is married and her husband, Chris Poore, is a resident in the Periodontics Department at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.  She is an avid animal lover with two dogs and two cats at home.  She also enjoys traveling when she gets the opportunity and taking in an occasional movie.
